Luke’s motorsport career has been on an upward trajectory of late — and he is giving plenty of credit to the Williams F1 Driver Academy.
The 23-year-old has been part of the Atlassian Williams F1 Team’s development programme since 2023, during which time he has made the jump from Formula 3 to Formula 2 with Hitech TGR.
He enjoyed an impressive first full season at F2 level, too, putting 162 points on the board and placing fourth in the Drivers’ Standings.
That 2025 campaign featured nine podium finishes and a first Feature Race win in Monza, in a year packed full of memorable moments.
And Luke was full of praise for the guidance he has received of late, when speaking to Motorsport Week ahead of the festive period.
“They [Williams] are just trying to push me forward,” he said. “And yeah, get the best out of me.
So [Team Principal] James [Vowles] has been fantastic, alongside padel — becoming padel partners now — he’s helping me a lot with the racing side.
“I think James says this, you know, Williams don’t sell cars. Williams don’t do any of that.
“Williams are a racing team, and what that means is optimising, not only young drivers, but also what it’s like to be on circuit and taking us through that path to winning [a] World Championship.
“And James is putting us on that and trying to throw me and the team to the top, and just being a part of that process is amazing.
“The biggest thing is just being able to have an impact on the team. Being a team is fantastic.”
Alongside his Formula 2 duties, Luke also drove Williams’ FW47 during three Free Practice sessions last term, in Bahrain, Mexico City and Abu Dhabi.
Those proved to be valuable experiences, as the Cheshire native explained:
“You know, what? It’s a different feeling for me now,” he said. “The first time in Bahrain, maybe Abu Dhabi, I was super excited to get out in the car, you know?”
“[But] I’ve done a lot in a Formula 1 car now, and I’m at the end of the Formula 2 championship,” Luke continued.
“And the next natural step for me feels like Formula 1, so [it’s about] getting in and around the team. It doesn’t [just] feel exciting, it feels like I’m ready and I’m ready to perform.
“So yeah, whatever gets thrown at me now, whether it’s the media side or if it’s the driving, I’m ready to just try my best and see if it’s good enough.”
