Luke should be full of confidence ahead of his upcoming visit to Baku, after claiming his first-ever Formula 2 victory last time out.
The 23-year-old put in a sensational performance at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza — qualifying on pole, before securing a point in the Sprint and winning Sunday’s Feature Race.
With just three rounds of the season remaining, our Hitech TGR racer will now be targeting a repeat of that display in Azerbaijan this weekend.

The state of play

Luke’s aforementioned Round 11 triumph in Monza handed him a huge boost in the Formula 2 title race.
He’s now up to second place in the Drivers’ Standings after that 28-point haul, just 19 points behind current leader Leonardo Fornaroli.
The Italian won the Sprint in Lombardy last Saturday, but was only able to place fifth in the Feature Race — leaving Luke with an increased chance of closing the gap across trips to Baku, Lusail and Yas Island.
Jak Crawford and Richard Verschoor (in third and fourth, respectively) will continue to keep the pressure on, though, setting up a potentially thrilling finale to the 2025 campaign.

Previous visits to Baku

Luke’s only previous visit to the Baku City Circuit came last season, when he was driving for ART Grand Prix in Formula 2.
And it resulted in his second-highest return of 2024, when he placed P7 in the Feature Race to add six points to his tally.
Only a P6 in the Yas Island Sprint could top that performance last year, though the Cheshire native has gone on to register a whole host of better results in 2025, of course.
He will be hoping to utilise any lessons learnt from his previous stint in Azerbaijan, when this weekend’s racing gets underway.

Track talk

The Baku City Circuit will test Luke’s driving skills to the maximum, when he sets about navigating the 6.003 km (3.73 miles) street track.
Located by the shores of the Caspian Sea, there are few more dramatic settings on the calendar — and certainly no others that run alongside the walls of a fortress.
That feature, as well as the track’s incredibly long straight, make this a truly unique venue that’s packed full of unpredictable twists and turns.
There’s a total of 20 corners, to be precise, including four 90-degree turns to kick off a lap. Things then slow down into Sector 2, when drivers must wind around the Baku City Fortress and eventually into the aforementioned long straight.
High-speed, flat-out racing then follows in Sector 3, before we conclude with a heavy braking zone that leads back into Turn 1.

Race times

Free Practice is set to commence at 10am AZT on Friday, ahead of Qualifying at 2pm.
Saturday’s Sprint will get started at 2.15pm, before the Feature Race at 11am AZT on Sunday.
