Round 3 of the 2026 Super Formula season took Luke Browning to Autopolis, but poor conditions on race day in Kyūshū led to the abandonment of racing.
Autopolis marked another new circuit for Luke in his rookie season, and he set about making the most of his first practice session at the venue. Completing 27 laps, he ended the session as the lead Kondo car in P17.
Rolling out in Q1 Group B, Luke narrowly missed out on a place in Q2 during a red flag-affected qualifying session. He finished the phase in P9, which converted to a P17 grid slot for Sunday’s race.
The final day of running began with light rain during Practice 2, but with less than 10 minutes remaining in the session, Luke ran wide at Turn 3 and ultimately clipped the barrier.
However, thanks to the efforts of the crew, Luke’s #3 Kondo Racing machine was repaired in time for the main event.
Between the reconnaissance laps and the start of the race, the initially light rain intensified. After an initial delay, the field left the grid for a formation lap behind the Safety Car, but conditions continued to worsen, ultimately leading to the cancellation of the race.
Luke will now head to Miami to resume his reserve driver duties with the Atlassian Williams F1 Team, before rounds 4 and 5 of the Super Formula season take place at Suzuka later in May.
