Luke enjoyed a productive Sunday in Mogyoród, as he added more points to his tally at the Hungaroring.
Our Hitech TGR driver secured a P4 finish in Round 10’s Feature Race — and would have placed P5 in the Sprint, if not for a post-race penalty that moved him down to 12th.
There was perhaps a hint of what was to come, when Luke recorded a 1:30.609 lap time to top the standings during Free Practice.
And though he couldn’t quite match that in Qualifying, a P4 position was nonetheless a more than respectable outcome.
Next up was the F2 Sprint, where the 23-year-old thought he had finished fifth — only to be penalised after the Stewards deemed he’d gained a lasting advantage from going off track at Turn 6/7 on the final lap.
Undeterred, Luke made amends the following day, as his P4 placing yielded 12 points and took his total for the campaign to 125.
That keeps him in fourth spot in the Drivers’ Standings, though Leonardo Fornaroli’s Feature Race triumph has extended his lead at the summit.
Fornaroli is on 154 points heading into the summer break, with Jak Crawford (137) and Richard Verschoor (135) in second and third, respectively — and Luke just 10 points behind the latter.
There’s still plenty to play for, then, when the Formula 2 season resumes in Monza from 5th-7th September.
