Luke will get two more opportunities to pilot Atlassian Williams Racing’s FW47 this December — first during FP1 at the Abu Dhabi GP, then in the end-of-season Young Driver Test.
Our Hitech TGR racer has already driven the Formula 1 vehicle on two occasions in 2025, having taken it for a spin during Free Practice 1 at both the Bahrain and Mexico City Grands Prix.
But he is nonetheless excited to get behind the wheel once again next month, in what promises to be a busy weekend at the Yas Marina Circuit.
After all, the 23-year-old will also be involved in the Formula 2 season finale in Abu Dhabi, where he remains in title contention with two rounds remaining.
Reacting to the news, Luke said: “It’s going to be an unforgettable weekend in Abu Dhabi fighting for the Formula 2 title while getting back behind the wheel of the FW47, and it’s a challenge I’m going to relish.
“The Young Driver Test will give me a final opportunity to help the team prepare for 2026 and I’m looking forward to being part of a Formula 1 weekend for the last time this season.
“Thank you to everyone at the Driver Academy and Williams for the trust once again.”
Atlassian Williams Racing Sporting Director Sven Smeets added: “Luke’s development continues to impress us, and we are looking forward to closing the season with him behind the wheel of the FW47.
“We have an incredibly talented group of drivers in the Williams Racing Driver Academy, and it is important for us to give them the opportunity to progress as they move up the ladder.
“These final sessions of the season will give Luke another valuable chance to learn from Alex [Albon] and Carlos [Sainz], the wider team, and further embed with our trackside operation as he looks towards a bright future.”
Luke will be driving Alex Albon’s FW47 on Friday 5th December (1.30pm GST), having previously driven Carlos Sainz’s car at the Mexico City GP.
